Money & Rewards
Rewards & bonuses
One-line summary: a points system where employees earn points (manager bonuses, full workdays, on-time tasks), redeem them for cash, and see balances live in the topbar.
Overview
Earn points → balance accrues → redeem for cash → added to next paycheck
- Managers send bonuses and approve redemptions.
- The system auto-awards points on full workdays and on-time tasks; deducts on overdue tasks.
- Employees see their balance live and redeem whenever they want.
Default rate: 1 point = $0.10. Configurable per company.
Manager guide
Send a bonus
- Rewards → click the blue "Bonus" button.
- Pick recipient: everyone, a team, or one employee.
- Enter point count and pick the occasion (gift, achievement, holiday, birthday, work anniversary, other).
- Optionally add a personal message (max 280 chars).
- Pick visibility (public or private), then Send.
The recipient's screen dims, a golden spotlight appears, and a card pops with your name, the points (counting up from zero), your message, and confetti. Points are added to their wallet immediately.
Tip: the personal message makes a real psychological difference. Even a short line ("great work this week, thank you!") is what makes the reward remembered.
Approve redemption requests
Rewards → Redemption requests card lists pending requests with employee, points, and USD amount.
- Approve → amount goes onto their next paycheck as a "Bonuses" line item.
- Reject → points are returned to the employee's balance with an optional reason.
Points are held in escrow the moment a redemption is requested. Rejection auto-refunds.
Settings
Settings → Rewards & recognition has four cards:
| Setting | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Point value | $0.10 | Applies to new redemptions only; history keeps its old rate |
| Live ticker | On | Topbar money + points slips |
| Daily attendance bonus | On · 5 min before end | +1 point if still clocked in 5 min before required hours end |
| Late-task deduction | 1/day · cap 5 | Balance never goes negative; pauses while task awaits review |
Employee guide
Live ticker
One slip at the top of the screen combines both numbers:
$42.31 · 23
- Money — month-to-date earnings (hourly + approved bonuses).
- The number beside the star icon — your current points balance (shown only if your plan includes rewards).
Ticker animates while clocked in; stays static while clocked out.
Wallet
Found under Settings → Profile, a card titled "Rewards wallet." It shows:
- Current balance in points + its dollar equivalent.
- Redeem button (enabled once the balance is > 0).
- Activity log — the last 8 movements, each with its own icon and colour:
- Golden gift icon = manager bonus · Blue coin icon = redemption · Red basket icon = late deduction · Gray star icon = automatic earning
- The movement's amount shows in green when positive (+) and red when negative (-)
Redeem points
Settings → Profile → Wallet → "Redeem" → enter points → adds optional note → Confirm. Points are held; manager approves; amount lands on your next paycheck.
Tip: don't redeem your whole balance at once if you want something left for an occasion.
Earning points
| Source | Points | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Manager bonus | manager's choice | sent manually |
| Full workday | +1 | clocked in until 5 min before required hours end |
| On-time task | +1 | task completed before due date |
Losing points
Only one scenario: a task overdue past its due date.
- 1 point/day, capped at 5/task.
- Paused while the task is in
awaiting review, needs changes, orpaused. - Balance never goes negative.
Tip: if a task of yours is going to be late for reasons outside your control, move it to paused with a written reason — that stops the counter.
FAQ
Q: Can I take back a bonus I sent by mistake? A: Not at present. The workaround: ask the employee to redeem it back voluntarily, or make a manual deduction through Award points with a negative value.
Q: What if I change the point value after bonuses have been sent? A: History keeps its old value. The new value applies only to redemptions made afterwards.
Q: Why does the ticker show zero when I worked yesterday? A: The ticker counts from the start of the current month. It resets on the first of the month, then accumulates.
Q: Can I take the money in cash instead of having it added to my pay? A: Not at present — the system is integrated with the payslip only, to keep the money trail transparent.
Q: Do points expire? A: No — they accumulate with no expiry.
