Customizable Dashboards
One-line summary: how to build a dashboard your way — pick widgets, drag to arrange them, resize them, and keep several named dashboards with their own themes and colors.
Plan: Available on every plan (the widget set differs between the admin and the employee).
Overview
The Duwam dashboard is a grid of widgets you fully control. The grid is four columns wide, and each widget spans from one column (S) to four columns (XL). The order of the widgets is the order they appear, and cards pack together automatically to fill gaps.
Everything you do is saved for you alone: each user has their own dashboard, cached in the browser and synced to the server, so rearranging yours never touches a colleague's.
Tip: Every change is saved the moment you make it — there is no separate "save" button for the layout. "Done" simply closes customize mode.
Building your dashboard
Entering customize mode
- Open the dashboard from the side navigation.
- Press "Customize" in the toolbar above the board.
- An edit bar appears on each widget, and the "Add widget" side panel opens.
- When you finish, press "Done".
Adding a widget
From the "Add widget" side panel:
- Widgets are grouped by category (Tasks, People, Productivity, Operations… then the organizational elements).
- Click any widget to add it to the end of the board, or drag it to exactly where you want it.
- Widgets already on the board show a checkmark and can't be duplicated (one data widget of each kind). Only organizational elements may be repeated freely.
Rearranging
Drag any widget by its grip handle (the dots icon) to move it. Dragging works in any mode, not just customize mode. When you drag near the edge of the screen, the board auto-scrolls to follow.
Resizing and collapsing
- Quick width: Press the size button (S / M / L / XL) on a widget to cycle through the four widths.
- Free drag: Drag the bottom-corner grip — horizontally to change the column span, vertically to set a fixed height (its content then scrolls inside). Drag down near a neighbor's edge and the size snaps to it so the bottoms line up.
- Collapse: Press the chevron in a widget's header to fold it to just its title, or expand it again. Available on widgets that have a header.
Widget types
KPI tiles
Compact cards that show one important number — such as active employees, delayed tasks, or hours worked. When the data refreshes, the number counts up to its new value.
Task and chart widgets
Widgets that show breakdowns and lists: tasks by status or priority, team workload, completion rate, the leaderboard, latest activity, projects… and more.
- Widgets that carry a chart have a chart-type switcher in their header.
- Choose between: Bars · Donut · Table · Number · Ring (each widget supports the set that suits it).
- In charts, clicking a slice or row opens the task list filtered to that slice (such as "overdue" or a specific priority). See the Tasks guide. This drill-down is disabled while customizing so arranging never navigates you away.
Note: "Zero overdue" in the overdue-tasks widget is good news, not an empty state — the board shows it as a success, not a lack of data.
Organizational elements
Non-data elements you use to structure your board freely. Each can be repeated several times, and every copy has its own configuration:
- Section title — to split the board into groups.
- Text note — free text (up to 2,000 characters).
- Image — from an
httpsURL, with "cover" or "contain" fit and an optional caption. - Link button — clicking it browses the site inside the dashboard in an embedded overlay; a small icon opens it in a new tab for sites that block embedding.
- External embed — an
iframefor anhttpssite at a height you set (160–1200 px).
When you add an element, the side config panel opens and your changes appear on the board live as you type. Links must start with https://, otherwise they won't render.
Caution: Images and embeds work with https links only. Any unsafe or invalid URL shows as a "needs setup" element instead of rendering.
Multiple dashboards and themes
Multiple named dashboards
You can keep several independent dashboards and switch between them (up to 12):
- Open the menu from the dashboard-name button in the toolbar.
- "New dashboard" creates an empty board with the default layout and asks you to name it.
- The pencil icon renames, and the trash icon deletes (you can't delete your only dashboard, and deleting one doesn't affect the others).
- Each dashboard keeps its own layout and theme, so editing one leaves the rest untouched.
Chart theme
At the bottom of the "Add widget" panel you pick a color theme for the charts: Primary · Blue · Deep navy · Amber · Red · Gray.
Note: The theme recolors the dashboard's charts only (bars, rings, tracks). It is not an app theme — Duwam's identity stays the same everywhere else.
Date range
The calendar button in the toolbar sets the range that time-based metrics are computed over:
- Presets: Today · Last 7 days · Last 30 days · This month · This quarter.
- Or a custom range with "from" and "to" dates.
Live mode and report
- Live: The board updates itself automatically when events occur (such as an attendance change) and via a slow poll while the tab is visible; only what actually changed pulses.
- Report: The "Report" button prints the current board as a formatted report topped with the company name, dashboard name, range, and date — without the editing chrome.
Admin vs. employee dashboard
Both boards run on the same engine (drag, sizing, charts, themes, multiple dashboards); only the widget catalogue differs:
Admin dashboard
Team- and company-wide widgets: active employees, delayed tasks, hours worked, completed tasks, tasks by status/priority, upcoming deadlines, completion rate, presence now, team workload, leaderboard, top performer, latest activity, AI suggestions, quick actions, and projects.
Employee dashboard
Self-scoped widgets that are about you: my open tasks, productivity, points, today, my tasks, my tasks by status/priority, upcoming deadlines, my overdue tasks, attendance (start/stop shift), leaderboard, and quick actions.
FAQ
Q: Can the rest of the team see my layout? A: No. Each user has their own dashboard; your changes are visible to no one else.
Q: I removed a widget and want it back. A: Enter "Customize", then add it again from the "Add widget" panel. Removing a widget loses nothing but its place on this board.
Q: How do I restore the default layout? A: In customize mode press "Default" — it restores this dashboard's layout only, after a confirmation.
Q: Why won't my image or embed show?
A: The URL must start with https://. Unsafe links appear as a "needs setup" element.
Q: How many dashboards and widgets can I add? A: Up to 12 named dashboards, and up to 24 widgets on a single board.
