Daily Work
Attendance — clock in and out
One-line summary: how to clock in and out, track your hours live, and handle late arrivals and breaks in Duwam.
Two attendance modes
- Fixed shift — your manager set a start and end time (e.g., 9 AM → 5 PM).
- Flexible hours — you just need to complete the required hours per day (e.g., 8 hours), any time you choose.
The mode you're on shows in the shift card at the top of the Attendance page.
Starting your shift
- Open Attendance from the side menu.
- Tap the green "Start shift" button.
- The timer starts counting up; a green "Working now" indicator appears in the top bar.
The pulsing green dot next to your name on every page means you're clocked in. It disappears when you stop.
Pausing for a break
Tap "Pause" before lunch or any interruption. The timer freezes — paused minutes don't count toward your hours.
Tap "Resume" when you're back.
Forgetting to resume after a break is the #1 reason people lose hours. If the counter isn't moving, check the button state.
Ending your shift
- Tap the red "End shift" button.
- A summary card shows: actual hours, number of pauses, and any overtime.
- The session is saved to your history automatically.
What if I'm late?
- Fixed shift: there's a grace period (default 15 minutes, configurable per company). After it, the late arrival is logged and your manager is notified.
- Flexible hours: there's no late — what matters is completing the required hours before the day ends.
You can't start a shift before its scheduled time (the app blocks you and shows "Shift starts in X minutes"). This is intentional — it prevents early clock-ins.
Overtime
When you complete your required hours, the "Convert to overtime" button appears instead of "End shift". Time logged after conversion is tracked as overtime and shows separately on payroll.
Not every company pays overtime. Confirm with your manager before relying on it.
Where is my history?
- Last two days: the shift card itself shows today and yesterday.
- Full log: Attendance → "History" tab, every shift with dates and hours.
- Monthly report: Attendance → "Report" tab, monthly totals with CSV export.
Can my manager edit my attendance?
Yes — but transparently:
- Managers can mark you "present" on a day you didn't clock in (e.g., off-site meeting).
- Managers cannot delete hours you actually logged.
- Every edit is recorded with the manager's name and timestamp.
If you see an edit you disagree with, talk to your manager directly.
FAQ
Q: I forgot to end my shift yesterday and it ran all night. What now? A: The app auto-stops sessions that run too long, but the log may be inaccurate. Ask your manager to fix the day manually.
Q: Why can't I start my shift right now? A: Most likely your scheduled shift time hasn't started yet. The message tells you how many minutes to wait. In an emergency, ask your manager to adjust your shift start.
Q: The counter stopped without me pressing pause. Why? A: Usually a network drop or closed browser. Time isn't lost — it's calculated from the last signal the server received. Refresh to see the actual time.
Q: Can I work from home and log attendance? A: Yes, if your work mode is set to "Remote" in your account. Ask your manager if the button is disabled.
Q: Does attendance earn reward points? A: Yes — each full workday earns 1 point by default, added to your rewards wallet. See the rewards guide for details.
